Girlschat Series 2 || "Body-Shaming" & "Trolling"

Hello Beautiful Ladies!

Now unto the topic of the day...

While I was making my usual social media rounds yesterday, I went on Twitter and saw some tweets about "A-cups and B-cups" and I saw that some people were already throwing jabs at themselves about which was better and sexier. I also noted that the word "fat" and "flat" were very prominent in these tweets. I mean it didn't take me up to 5 minutes to realize that some people were attacking themselves over which body type and boobs looked better and was more "efficient".

I have disvovered that body shaming and trolling is something that has now become the order of the day. A lot of people, particularly women now think it's okay to have an opinion about how another woman should look, as if pointing out the "flaws" is not enough, you go further to say it in a rude manner and then insult the person on top of her own body again! Na wa o!

I remember one thing my pastor used to say when I was in school, he would say that there's no how God could have made everybody the same way because everywhere will just look somehow which is why he created varieties of people, so we already understand that there is a concept of "difference' be it body size, boobs size, hair type, etc. Don't get me wrong, I totally support and get the need to be healthy so if your food choices or whatever you ingest is leading to too much or too little, then there's a need to correct it- one thing though, let's not forget that correction is often not very easy.

We must also remember that before we decide to body shame or troll another person, some of these people have built their confidence and self esteem around how they look whether they're trying to remedy it or not. That's why I like some people they don't even waste time to respond to whoever trolled them.
 I remember on instagram when somebody said Uche Jombo was now fat, it wasn't even Uche that responded, it was her friend Chioma Chukwuka that explained so many things we didn't even know. Uche's baby is what you would call a miracle baby, after years of countless miscarriages, baby Matthew finally came and you think her weight is what is on her mind?..lol.

People fail to realize that everybody is fighting one battle or the other that nobody knows anything about which is why it's important to be kind to anybody and everybody instead of thriving on their insecurities because you never know how far that good deed can go.

It's bad enough that some people already hate their body and body shame themselves on a regular, one person will now come and say because you're not as hot and curvy as Kim Kardashian, you don't deserve to walk among mortals. This makes me think that charity indeed begins at home, in this context home means you. If you don't love yourself, your body and how you look, then there's no point for all these preaching. The way you see yourself and carry yourself is the way people will see you and this is not just a saying, ask me and I'll tell you. When you love yourself, any jab directed at you will have nothing at all on you. ( by the way, I'll be starting my self love challenge next month, its opened to as many that want to join. Details soon) Like Michelle Obama said "When they go low, We go high"πŸ’

The reason why people are so keen on tearing each other down is really beyond me, I don't know when they will stop and realize that we are much more stronger together if we encourage and motivate each other. I know none of us here on Girlschat series are involved in such pettiness (I hope😊) but I really just felt the need to address the issue so go ahead with your A, B,C or D- cup and strut your stuff baby!

So that's it for today Queens, Have you ever been body shamed or trolled? What did you do afterwards? What is your take on this topic? I would love to knowπŸ™

Let's head over to Danie's blog and see what she has for us today. 😊
